CoE Group gained reinforcement in sales and business development when Miika Tuomisto joined the team in Tampere. The 40-year-old father of two combines a strong technical background, customer understanding, and a people-oriented approach in his work.
AN INTEREST IN TECHNOLOGY STARTED EARLY
Miika’s interest in technology began already in childhood.
“I remember taking apart a VHS recorder I had received from my older brother because I wanted to know how it worked – I couldn’t put it back together again,” Miika says with a smile.
After military service, his path led to assembly work for work machine cabins. While reading technical drawings, he decided to apply to engineering studies in Tampere.
“The moment when something I had designed myself appeared as a functioning part of a machine confirmed that this is what I want to do.”
A STRONG BACKGROUND FROM DESIGN TO LEADERSHIP
Miika has worked as a mechanical designer in several companies in Tampere and the Helsinki metropolitan area, mainly on Valmet projects. He has searched for functional solutions from both a technical and service perspective.
As his career progressed, his responsibilities grew into a team lead role and later into the position of head of the mechanical department.
“That highlighted responsibility for results, people, and customer relationships. Those lessons still guide me today.”
CUSTOMER WORK AND FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTIONS AT THE CORE
In his current role at CoE Group, Miika’s work combines sales, recruitment, and business development.
At the heart of the work is understanding the customer’s situation and finding the right solution.
“The goal is not to offer just any resource, but the right expert for the right situation.”
Often, a new project begins with a discussion with the customer. Once the customer’s situation is understood well enough, the right expert can be found quickly.

In his new role, he looks forward to being able to influence the company’s direction and growth.
BALANCE TO EVERYDAY LIFE
As a counterbalance to work, Miika seeks out something concrete to do.
He has built a log cabin, and although the project is complete, the work continues.
In addition to his spouse, his family includes an 11-year-old daughter, a 6-year-old son, and an energetic golden retriever puppy, so everyday life is active outside work as well.
Exercise also brings balance to everyday life.
